I was born in Santiago, Chile, during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte. He had been in the power already 7 years when I came up to this world. I think that growing up and being a child during a repressive regime, is interesting when you have to think about what can you talk about with kids. I said this because talking and also writing have been an important during my life, and I would say they define me as a person.
I was 2 years old when I move to Arica, the driest city in the world. I know, its sounds scary, but actually there’s a pretty nice weather and some nice valleys around. It’s dry because of also the absolute lack of precipitation. Just a few milometers a year, which is the reason that the first time I remember seeing rain was when I was 6…and it was awesome.
in 1990, with the end of Pinochet’s dictatorship, we moved to Iquique, few hours to the South. That’s where I met most of my best friends and where I built my identity as an “Iquiqueño”.
After finishing school, I moved to Santiago to study Forest Engineering: fail.
The year after I get into Journalism School at Universidad de Chile. Journalism and communications is what I’ve been doing since then, working in newspapers like “Las Ultimas Noticias”, “El Mercurio” y “La Nación”.
In 2008-2009 I moved to Barcelona, Spain, where I pursued a masters in Visual Culture. Then I came back to Chile for a few years and in 2013, life brought me to Boston, Massachusetts, where I’m a Digital Media graduate student at Northeastern University.
From here, I would like to work in media, communications in general, marketing or any area where I can develop my creative and technical and social skills.
